Phil hesitated before taking the jacket and pulling it on. It was stupid, but it felt kind of nice to have someone offer him a jacket for once.
"I was in the Army. Of course I'm quick. And of course I noticed faster than that. And... Clint, I told you I want to help. I'm not looking for a way out. It seems like you're the one doing that. I didn't tell you I didn't want you here. Don't assume that I want you gone when I just offered you a place to stay." He was still a little worried that Clint might try to slip out while he was sleeping, but he guessed that if Clint wanted to get away from him that badly, he should let him, even if everything in him is screaming to help Clint.
"Give me a few days, at least, without trying to bolt. Please?"
