While he's grateful for the reassurance from Clint and for the chance to take his hand, he can't help a half-guilty glance at Phil because he knows -- he knows this has to hurt for him too. He thinks he's in Bruce's position, but at least Phil's side of this will get a happy ending relatively soon, he thinks. He knows Clint's probably even more eager to pull Phil to him and just breathe him in than Bruce is, and Bruce is determined that they should have that. He gets close to Clint, squeezes his hand, but keeps his side of the PDA to a minimum, for Phil's sake.
"All we knew is that you had died on the helicarrier, Hill included, all the way up until just about a week ago. I don't know how Natasha found out, but once she did, she found Clint and me when we were in Egypt, hiding from SHIELD, because yeah... Clint quit." He tries to shrug to appear casual, and he wonders what Clint will say to explain why, when as far as Bruce knows it's because of Arkham. "I'm on the lam too."
He tries a smile out on Phil, but it's uncertain and a little sad because he knows how he would be smiling if Phil were his Phil, but he isn't and instead Bruce has to deal with Phil looking at him like he barely knows him.
"We don't know why they were holding you. Did they say anything to you?"
