Of course he wasn't going to hop into bed with Clint like that, even though he wanted to, and then when Clint crawls into bed with Phil... Bruce can't really stop him without causing a scene, and then, that's just Clint, isn't it? It's why they both -- Phil and Bruce -- care about him, and even though there's a lot to be worried about with Clint doing that, Bruce can't help but smile to himself. They're going to have to broach the emotional situation between them at some point, so why not now, and it should start with Phil and Clint. He just hopes he doesn't make it extra awkward.
Also, he's sad he can't join them. Seeing them together brings Bruce a good deal of satisfaction, of comfort, but it hurts that he doesn't get to have that now, or that Phil might not understand their arrangement.
Bruce is in fact watching, a fact that he doesn't feel bad about until Phil wakes up, and then Bruce clears his throat and tries not to look so nostalgic about everything as he leans forward in his seat, resting his arms on his thighs.
"He missed you. We both did." If his smile is sad he can't really do much about that. Bruce still misses Phil. He isn't sure how much more of an explanation for the situation Phil finds himself in he can give without... going into a lot of detail.
